The Antlers - Putting the Dog to Sleep
Listen closely. This might be one the saddest songs I’ve heard all year. I may have this wrong but the voice seems to be that of a dog at the veterinarian about to be put to sleep while his owners are waiting outside. All he has is a broken leg and his owners are using it as an excuse to get rid the animal they never really wanted. The dog begs,
“Prove to me, I’m not going to die alone. Put your arm around my collar bone. Open the door.”
It is comforting to know that no matter how I die, I will die straight into the arms of Jesus.
